Decomposed Body Found Floating in South Branch of Chicago River

CHICAGO — A decomposing body was found floating in the South Branch of the Chicago River in the South Loop Wednesday, officials said.

The body of a man believed to be in his 40s was found about 2:40 p.m. in the 600 block of South Wells Street, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The man, whose identity is uknown, was pronounced dead at 6 p.m. at the medical examiner's office, a spokesman said.

The case is being pursued as a death investigation, police said.
