Police Warn East Garfield Park Residents of Increase in Robberies

CHICAGO — Robberies have increased recently in East Garfield Park, police said Tuesday.

During the robberies, a man approached victims and implied he has a weapon or places an unknown object or weapon against the victim's body before taking their property, according to a community alert.

The robberies occurred about 8:15 a.m. April 23 in the 2800 block of W. Fulton St. and about 11:15 p.m. April 24 in the 200 block of N. California Ave., police said.

The suspect is described as black, between the ages of 25 and 30, standing between 6-foot and 6-foot-5, and weighing between 210 and 230 pounds, officials said.
