PILSEN — If you’re a Chicago resident with a 4-foot-by-6-foot piece of art laying around, Simone’s Bar wants to talk to you.

The bar at 960 W. 18th St. is sponsoring a Chicago artist contest and needs a piece of art — no smaller than 4-by-6 and no larger than 4.5-by-9  — to hang along the wall near the DJ booth.

Manager Sarah O’Connor said the $2,000 prize is pretty much Simone’s decorating budget for the year.

“We just want to keep Simone’s as a place for the community. It’s a good way to do that and get the neighborhood involved as well,” she said.

O’Connor said there are no guidelines as to what kind of art could fill the space. As long as the art can hang on a canvas, it’s good to go.

Artists should submit a jpeg to decorateourwall@gmail.com by May 1. After that, Simone’s will choose the top five and post them on Facebook, with the winner being the one with the most “likes” by May 13.

So far, O’Connor said she’s only received a few submissions.

“I’m hoping everyone’s busy creating,” she said laughing.
