CHICAGO — One person was sent to the hospital after a chemical spill in a Brighton Park factory, fire officials said.

The incident occurred in the 4800 block of South St. Louis Avenue about 1 p.m. Monday, said Larry Langford, a fire department spokesman.

One person was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in fair-to-serious condition after being contaminated by a chemical mixture that included a substance in the "cyanide" family, Langford said.

"It's not anything you want to drink," Langford said. "He just had a little splash on him and was taken to the hospital as a precaution."

The spill occurred at a factory belonging to Kocour Company, which according to its website works in metal finishing industry.
