CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man was killed early Saturday when he drove into the back of a semi-truck in the Washington Park neighborhood, police said.

The man was driving northbound in the 5900 block of South State Street about 3:25 a.m. when his Oldsmobile Cutlass struck a semi-truck turning left onto West 59th Street, said Officer Antoinette Ursitti, a police spokeswoman.

The man was identified as James Anthony, 24, of the 15500 block of South Maryland Avenue.

He was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Ursitti said.

No citations were issued.
