SOUTH AUSTIN — One man is dead and four others injured, including two police officers, after a car collided with a police car late Friday night, authorities said.

The accident happened about 11:20 p.m. Friday in the 5200 block of West Harrison Street, according to Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

Greer said a car carrying three passengers struck a squad car near the intersection of West Harrison Street and South Laramie Avenue. Police did not have information available early Saturday morning as to whether the squad car was parked or moving, Greer said.

When the vehicles collided, a man, identified as Anthony Camarillo, 18, was ejected from the car and hit a pole, Greer said. He was pronouced dead at the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office just before 3 a.m., authorities said.

The two other passengers in the car that struck the squad car were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Greer said.

Two police officers were inside the squad car that was hit. Greer said both officers were taken to John H. Stroger Hospital and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
