CHICAGO — A firefighter was taken to the hospital early Wednesday after he fell ill while battling a house fire in Bridgeport.

The blaze broke out around 3:47 a.m. in the 3200 block of South Aberdeen Street, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a police spokesman. None of the residents were injured.

The firefighter, who started to feel sick on the scene, was transported to a local hospital in good condition, the Fire Department said. The illness is not fire-related.
