CHICAGO — A Back of the Yards car crash killed one man and left another in serious condition early Saturday, police said.

About 12:25 a.m., a 2006 silver Lincoln crashed into a pole in the 4800 block of South Damen Avenue, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

The car's 25-year-old male driver was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, Estrada said.

The passenger, Angel Ramirez, 35, of the 1900 block of W. 57th St. in West Englewood, was also rushed to Stroger, where he was pronounced dead at 1:03 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police believe the accident may have been alcohol-related, Estrada said.

The driver is in custody, but no charges or citations have been issued.
