Rare Lincoln Park Row House Hits the Market

LINCOLN PARK — A rare vintage home that was built in the mid-1880s and features a miniature hockey rink in the back yard has come on the market in Lincoln Park.

The six-bedroom, 5½-bath home, which is part of the McCormick Row House District, is on the end of one of the rows on an oversized lot and is listed at $2.35 million.

The home at 832 W. Belden Ave. was last on the market in 2001 and sold for $2 million. It was put back on the market Tuesday.

The houses in the McCormick Row House District were built between 1884 and 1889 and were used by the McCormick Theological Seminary for rental income. The district has a private street and park in the center of the development and splits DePaul University's Lincoln Park campus in half.

The new listing is the only home for sale in the historic district, which is a "very rare" find, according to listing agent Joanne Nemerovski, vice president of Prudential Rubloff Properties.

Many of the features of the house that's for sale are original, including much of the wood and stained glass windows.

"It's got a huge yard and a phenomenal location," Nemerovski said. "The house is vintage. It's got charm and character."

The Queen Anne-style house is set on a 43-by-114-foot lot, and although the hockey rink takes up a chunk of the side yard, it can be removed.
