CHICAGO — A baby boy who was being hidden by his mother was returned to the state's custody, authorities said.

Officers with the Cook County Sheriff's Office went to the 2800 block of South Pulaski Avenue in South Lawndale about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday believing the 1-month-old was holed up with his parents there, the sheriff's office said.

There was an existing child protection warrant to bring the baby back into Department of Children and Family Services hands, the sheriff's office said.

His 29-year-old mother, Priscilla Gloria, had an outstanding warrant against her for failure to appear on a felony residential burglary charge in LaSalle County, about a 90-mile drive west of Chicago.

There was a strong possibility that the baby's parents were going to take him to Mexico, the sheriff's office said.

The baby is back in DCFS custody, authorities said.
