Man Found Dead After Irving Park Garage Fire

CHICAGO — A man's body with gunshot wound was found in a burned garage in Irving Park Sunday night, authorities said.

Robert John Taylor, 53, was found dead in the 3700 block of North Albany Avenue, the same block where he lived, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

He was found unresponsive in a car after a garage fire was extinguished, police said.

The gunshot wound appeared to be self-inflicted, according to the medical examiner's office, but police didn't comment on that Monday night.

Police have launched a death investigation after uncovering the remains about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

He was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m. Sunday.
