CHICAGO — The driver who was killed in a West Rogers Park crash Thursday was identified as an Evanston teen, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

Kevoyn Cox, 18, of the 800 block of Dodge Avenue in Evanston, had been traveling in the 2900 block of West Howard Street about 9:10 p.m. with five other people in the vehicle, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman, when the vehicle hit a tree.

Cox was found unresponsive, and he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 9:45 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Four others were sent to Lutheran General Hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, according to fire officials.

They are expected to survive, Greer said.

The fifth passenger fled the scene on foot, Greer said.

No further information was available.
