COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — The syringe poking out of his pocket gave away a man who locked himself in the bathroom of a Lakeview Starbucks.

Jose Munoz Jr., 25, was arrested and charged with possession after employees of the Starbucks at 3184 N. Clark St. flagged down police early Friday morning and told them that the man had locked himself in the bathroom for more than an hour, Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Michael Rusch said.

Police stopped Munoz, a resident of Greenville, Tenn., at about 12:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of North Clark Street, according to court records. They asked if he was "OK" and noticed the needle sticking out of his shirt pocket.

Munoz admitted to having heroin, but did not tell police what he had been doing in the Starbucks bathroom, according to court records.

Cook County Judge Laura Sullivan gave Munoz an "I bond," meaning he will be released from jail to return to court on his own recognizance.
