One Critically Injured in Lincoln Park High-Rise Fire

CHICAGO — A man was in critical condition after a blaze at a Lincoln Park high-rise with a history fires.

The fire at 2626 N. Lakeview was contained to the 16th floor of the 42-story building, fire officials said. A man was taken in critical condition to Illinois Advocate Masonic Hospital. Officials said about 100 fire personnel repsonded to the incident. The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes.

The high-rise, which overlooks Lincoln Park, was the scene of a 2007 fire on the 26th floor that killed two people. An October fire on the 24th floor resulted in no injuries.

Resident Lori Burk has lived in the high-rise for seven years, experiecing all three fires. Burk lives on the 28th floor, and lived on the 27th floor in 2007.

"Maybe this is a sign," she said, adding that the buidling management company, Sudler Properties, has been "fantastic."

Still, she said, "My lease is up in June. I don't know."
