Charges Filed in Beating Death of Man on CTA Green Line 'L' Platform

COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A man who allegedly beat another man to death on a CTA Green Line platform has been charged with first degree murder.

Anthony Q. Jackson, 45, of the 500 Block of East 67th Street, was ordered held on a $500,000 bail  during a court hearing Wednesday after previously being denied bond.

The beating occurred at the 43rd Street Green Line "L" station in the 300 Block of East 43rd Street at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The victim, Sanchez Mixon, 37, of the 3300 block of South Michigan Avenue, was involved in a physical fight with Jackson on the train platform, authorities said.

According to court documents, Jackson was arrested after he turned himself in.

Mixon was transported to Northwestern Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:13 p.m., according to authorities.
