COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A man charged with stabbing his roommate during a fight the two had in their Albany Park home is being held on $500,000 bail.

Jim Diaz, 25, of the 4800 block of North Drake Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder in the killing of 26-year-old Eber Ochoa-Deleon. Police said Diaz might also go by the name of Jose Mejia.

The Guatemalan-born resident was held on a $500,000 bail after appearing in court Wednesday.

Diaz and Ochoa-Deleon were involved in an argument that turned deadly when Diaz stabbed his roommate multiple times in their North Drake Avenue home sometime before 7:15 p.m., police said Tuesday. Diaz was taken into custody soon after, cops said.

Diaz was arrested after he was identified by several witnesses as Ochoa-Deleon's attackers.

According to court documents, Diaz stabbed Ochoa-Deleon in the face, shoulder and chest in their Albany Park apartment.

Ochoa-Deleon was taken to St. Francis Hospital and pronounced dead about an hour later.
