16-Year-Old Dies After Saturday Shooting

CHICAGO — A South Chicago teen who was shot Saturday night has died, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed.

Arrell Monagan, 16, of the 7900 block of South Escanaba Avenue, was shot about 7 p.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of West 58th Street in the city's Gage Park neighborhood, said Officer Daniel O'Brien, a police spokesman.

Monagan was struck in the shoulder and back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition. He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds at 8:23 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one was in custody as of Saturday night, O'Brien said. Police are investigating.
