CHICAGO — Police issued a community alert after a string of recent robberies on the Near West Side .
The robbers walked up to victims and mugged them, sometimes with a weapon, police said.
One robbery happened at March 8 at 11:15 p.m. in the 1600 block block of West Chicago Avenue, and another occurred 5:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of West Lake Street, police said.
The robbers are described as black, between ages 16 and 24 and standing between 5-foot-7 and 6-foot, the alert said.
