PILSEN — The sky’s the limit for submissions to MAGI’S MAG, a free monthly magazine being launched next month by the MAGI Cultural Art Center.

Started by multimedia artist Mercedes Inez Martinez, the MAGI Cultural Art Center at 2149 W. 21st St. is a nonprofit art education center that advocates against neighborhood violence.

The topic of the magazine will change monthly, although there is no set topic for the first issue, which has a submission deadline of March 25. Submissions do not have a length requirement and can be fiction, non-fiction, or poetry-based, according to Atzin Garcia, who helped organize the magazine.

“It’s like an art collective for artists around Chicago who just want to give something to the people,” Garcia, 18, said.

Garcia said MAGI plans to distribute the magazine at CTA “L” stops and in local bookstores and coffee shops.

Those looking to submit should email one to two written pieces and a five-sentence biography to either atzin.garcia@gmail.com or mercedesinezmartinez@gmail.com.
