CHICAGO — Illinois Republicans have canceled a meeting scheduled for Saturday, in which they were expected to vote on the ouster of party Chairman Pat Brady, who has voiced support for same-sex marriage legislation.

In a note sent to party leaders late Friday night, 10th District Committeeman Mark Shaw wrote the meeting would be postponed because Brady had not responded to requests to be present for the meeting. No date was given for a rescheduled meeting.

Seven committee leaders had expressed a vote of no confidence in Brady after his comments supporting same-sex marriage legislation surfaced in January.
