Police Warn Grand Boulevard Residents of Attempted Kidnapping

CHICAGO — Police issued an alert to Grand Boulevard residents after a man attempted to abduct a child into a van Monday morning.

The incident occurred about 7:35 a.m. in the 4400 block of South Prairie Avenue, according to police.

The man who attempted to kidnap the child was in a white conversion-type van with burgundy stripes on its side, police said.

The alleged offender is described as a black male with light complexion, 20 to 25 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 tall and weighing 160 to 170 pounds. At the time of the attempted kidnapping, he was wearing a gray baseball cap and a gray mock collar sweater.
