CHICAGO — Three men have been charged in the October murder of a 73-year-old South Shore man, police said Saturday.

Aramis McKinzie, 18, of the 1400 block of South Canal, Garlin Minor, 19, of the 600 block
of East 95th Street, and Akeem L. Simmons, 20, of the 1400 block of East 68th Street, were charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of William Thomas.

Police said Thomas was sitting outside a building in the 6800 block of South East End Avenue at about 7:15 the evening of Oct. 12 when shots were fired. Police responding to the scene found Thomas lying on the sidewalk, having been shot in the head.

On Thursday, officers from the Chicago Police Gang Investigation Division arrested the three men after obtaining information that implacted them in Thomas' death.

McKinzie, Minor and Simmons are scheduled to appear in court Saturday.
