CHICAGO — A man was killed Saturday evening after he was shot in Austin.

Around 5:45 p.m., 32-year-old Donald Price was shot in the neck in the 4800 block of West Ferdinand Street, authorities said.

The shooting took place less than a block from his home, which is also listed on the 4800 block of W. Ferdinand Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

Price, who had a criminal record and gang affiliation, was standing on the sidewalk when an unknown suspect appeared on foot from a vacant lot with a handgun and fired several times, said Officer Laura Kubiak, a police spokeswoman.

The offender then fled.

Price was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at 6:19 p.m.
