CHICAGO — A late-night blaze left a woman injured and 13 people displaced in Englewood Monday night, the Chicago Fire Department said.

The fire started in a house in the 5900 block of South Peoria Street sometime before 11:15 p.m., the fire department said.

A woman who jumped from the third floor window to escape the flames was conscious and alert when she was taken to Stroger Hospital, the fire department said.

The fire department said five adults and eight children were displaced by the blaze. The fire was under control by about 11:30 p.m., the fire department said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
