CHICAGO — A Kenwood man is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the slaying of a man in Grand Boulevard on New Year's Day.

Clyde Jackson, 19, of the 4500 block of South Drexel Boulevard, is due in bond court Friday for killing Kevin Jemison, 28, on the 4500 block of South Champlain Avenue, police said.

Shortly before his death, Jemison told a friend at a New Year's Eve party that he would eventually be killed.

About 3 p.m. the next day, a gunman shot him multiple times while he was in the 4500 block of South Champlain Avenue, police said. Police said at the time of the shooting that Jemison's killer had gang affiliations.

Police said the shooter ran off, and at the time of the shooting the motive was unclear.

Jemison lived in the 4700 block of South Michigan Avenue, blocks from where he was shot dead.
