CHICAGO — A man has been spending fake $100 bills in Old Town, police said Tuesday.

Police issued a business alert warning clothing stores that the man has hit two businesses in January with the counterfeit money.

The man buys a single item of clothing and receives change in legal currency, police said.

The man used a fake bill about 2:25 p.m. Jan. 22 in the 1500 block of North Halsted Street and about 12:28 p.m. Jan. 24 in the 500 block of West North Avenue, according to the alert.

Police ask anyone with information to call 312-747-8380.
