CHICAGO — The family of honor student Hadiya Pendleton will hold funeral services for the slain 15-year-old this Saturday.
The funeral is set for Saturday at Greater Harvest Baptist Church, 5141 S. State St. The wake will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral until 2 p.m.
A viewing is scheduled for Friday at Callahan Funeral Home, 7030 S. Halsted St., from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Hadiya, a sophomore at King College Prep High School, was killed last week after she and her friends sought shelter from the rain in Kenwood's Harsh Park and a gunman fired on the group.
The teen was fatally shot in the back, while a friend survived a bullet wound in the leg.
Hadiya's death has since loomed large in debates about gun violence both in Chicago and on a national level.
The Chicago Police Department is offering a $40,000 reward to find the girl's killer.
