CHICAGO — Police arrested a South Shore man Friday for a weapons violation while evicting him from his apartment.
Orlando Griffin, 39, was arrested for having a .357 Magnum handgun, loaded with four bullets, without a FOID card, according the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
About 9 a.m., officers went to Griffin’s apartment in the 2300 block of East 70th Street to enforce a court-ordered eviction, officials said.
During an eviction questionnaire, Griffin told the officers he had a gun in his kitchen drawer. He told the officers he had the gun because he lived in a dangerous area, officials said.
As a convicted felon with a prior weapons-related offense, Griffin is ineligible for a FOID card by Illinois law.
He was scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
