CHICAGO — A teenager was fatally shot in a Back of the Yards gangway Friday night, police said.
Police responded to shots fired in the 5400 block of South Laflin Street about 9:30 p.m., said Officer Laura Kubiak, a police spokeswoman.
They found the 19-year-old, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Jovantay Alexander, unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
At least one bullet pierced through Alexander's face, according to the medical examiner's office.
The office said Alexander, of the 1800 block of East 72nd Street, was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. the following morning at their site.
No one is in custody.
