Man's Life Ends on Spring Afternoon

EAST GARFIELD PARK — Patrick Swinney was killed in an afternoon shooting on the 700 block of South Francisco Avenue in East Garfield Park on April 7, the day after his 23rd birthday.

Police were called to the scene following reports of shots fired and found Swinney lying on the sidewalk. He had been shot multiple times in the face and back and was pronounced dead on scene at 4 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

His family could not be reached for comment.

No one has been charged in Swinney’s murder, according to Chicago police data.

In 2010, Swinny was found guilty of possessing less than 100 grams of heroin, according to Will County court records.
