CHICAGO— A man was shot to death near his Avondale home in February.

Edgar Delgado, 17, was shot multiple times in the 3400 block of North Monticello Avenue just a few blocks from where he lived the evening of Feb. 18, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

He was pronounced dead soon after at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, according to the medical examiner's office.

Charged in Delgado's death was 18-year-old Christopher Perez, according to Cook County court records. Perez was charged with first-degree murder and held without bond, records show.

Prosecutors said the crime was gang related. Delgado reportedly saw Perez and others and shouted "Oh, s---, the Folks!" and tried to run away from the scene, the Tribune reported. But Perez gave chase, shooting at Delgado.

Delgado's family could not be reached for comment.
