CHICAGO — Carlos Alexander had just left the corner store and was walking the few short paces back to his home when he was gunned down on Oct. 29 in South Chicago.
Alexander, 33, left behind four children who he adored, according to Leonard Thomas, who had been friends with Alexander since the age of 7, when they grew up together on South Muskegon Avenue.
“He didn’t deserve what happened to him,” Thomas said. “He wasn’t into the streets. He took care of his family.”
Growing up, the two friends had sleepovers nearly every night, Thomas said. As grown men, they loved football, constantly playing the John Madden football video game and cheering on their beloved Chicago Bears.
