GRAND BOULEVARD — Hours before he was slain, Kevin Jemison told a friend at a New Year's Eve party he knew he would eventually be killed, the friend said Wednesday.

Police said Jemison, 28, was fatally shot in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

A gunman wearing dark clothing walked up to Jemison, who police said had gang affiliation, and shot him multiple times in the 4500 block of South Champlain Avenue about 3 p.m., police said.

Jemison ran to a nearby sidewalk and collapsed, authorities said.

Standing near a memorial for Jemison near the scene Wednesday morning, 18-year-old Rashod Weekly said Jamison was like a brother.

Weekly said he had partied on New Year's Eve with Jemison, who was nicknamed "Goon." But his friend, whom Weekly described as usually laid-back and funny, seemed to somehow know he wouldn't live much longer.
