CHICAGO — Police warned Lincoln Park hair salons to be on their guard after the same man apparently committed a pair of robberies along Fullerton Avenue over the weekend.

The suspect, identified as a 30-year-old light-skinned Hispanic, about 5-foot 6 and 150 pounds, in a red jacket and gray watch cap, entered the hair salons, placed a duffel bag on the counter and announced a robbery, displaying a handgun, police said.

According to officers with the Near North Police District, the man committed the robberies at about 5:40 p.m. Saturday on the 1200 block of West Fullerton Avenue and at about 5 p.m. on the 1300 block the following day, police said. The robber made off on foot with cash in both incidents, police said in a news alert.

Police advised area residents and business owners to report suspicious activity immediately. If confronted by an assailant, remain calm, but try to remember any distinguishing physical characteristics, such as scars, a limp or acne, police said in a news alert.

Those with any information on the robberies are advised to call detectives at (312) 747-8380.
