Indiana Man Shot, Killed While Riding in Car

CHICAGO — A 20-year-old Indiana man died Saturday night of a gunshot wound to the back of his head early that morning.

He was identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Hakeem Walton, of the 1100 block of 170th Place in Hammond, Ind.

Walton was a passenger of a car in the 2700 block of East 84th Street of the South Chicago neighborhood when a bullet flew through the back window and pierced his head at about 2:15 a.m., according to Chicago police spokesman Ron Gaines.

Walton was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital before being transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He was pronounced dead there at 6:35 p.m.

No arrests have been made.
