CHICAGO — A 15-year-old boy died Saturday morning after apparently shooting himself while playing with a gun, authorities said.
The teenager, identified as Kentan Scott by the Cook County medical examiner's office, was found with gunshot wound to the head by his mother and a friend at his residence in the 4800 block of West Quincy Street Thursday at about 8 p.m., according to police spokesman John Mirabelli.
The boy was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the medical examiner's office.
The shooting was likely accidental, Mirabelli said.
