4 Wounded By Gunfire Saturday

CHICAGO — Two people were wounded by gunfire overnight, and three have been injured so far today, police said.

Shortly before midnight Saturday, a 47-year-old woman standing on her front porch, in the 1300 block of South Springfield Avenue in North Lawndale, was shot in the hand when a man approached her and fired. She was hospitalized at Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition.

At about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, in the 2300 block of West Grenshaw Street in the Tri-Taylor near the Illinois Medical District, a 30-year-old woman was struck in the foot when a man shot her while standing on the sidewalk. She was at Stroger Hospital in stable condition.

A suburban man was also killed by gunfire early this morning on the West Side.

This morning, two men were injured in the 1800 block of North Whipple Street in Humboldt Park, said Chicago police spokesman John Mirabelli. A 31-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital. Another man was take to St. Mary’s Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. No information on their conditions was available.

At about 11 a.m., a woman was injured in the 4000 block of West Grenshaw Street in North Lawndale. She suffered a graze wound to her chest and walked to Mt. Sinai Hospital for treatment.
