CHICAGO — An off-duty officer was carjacked in Calumet Heights by three people Monday night, police said.

A 50-year-old female officer was approached shortly after 9 p.m. in the 9000 block of South Crandon Avenue by a man of unknown age who demanded money from her purse, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

Two more offenders came up to the officer, and all three took off in her SUV, a Buick Enclave, Mirabelli said.

It could not be confirmed whether anything other than the officer's purse was stolen, though her weapon was not taken, Mirabelli said.

No suspects are in custody, and police did not yet have descriptions of the offenders, Mirabelli said.
