CHICAGO — A man charged with armed robbery couldn't appear in court on Sunday because of wounds he sustained during the botched crime.

Michael Wilson was charged with five counts, including armed robbery and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm for Saturday's robbery in South Chicago that left him hospitalized.

According to police reports, Wilson, 31, of of the 9000 block of South Colfax Avenue, was on the 8800 block of South Burley Avenue when he pointed a revolver with six live rounds at a man before telling him to "give me everything you've got".

He then went through the man's pockets, stealing $130 and a cell phone before security guards arrived on the scene.

Wilson then pointed the gun at one of the guards, who, fearing for his safety and the safety of his partners, shot him in the back, according to police reports.

Wilson was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, but later transferred to Northwest Hospital, according to police.

His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 14.
