SOUTH LOOP — The developers behind a planned retail space at Roosevelt Road and Clinton Street released renderings of the finished product that include Nordstrom Rack, Staples and Dick's Sporting Goods store fronts.

But don't get too excited. The developers behind The Maxwell are "very close" to signing leases to fill the 216,000 square feet of retail space, Bond Companies President Robert Bond, told DNAinfo.com Chicago, but nothing's been firmed up.

The retail space will have to compete with the nearby Roosevelt Collection across the river, which unveiled leases with new tenants last week including an H&M, ULTA Beauty and Fleet Feet running store after months of vacancies.

Construction is set to start in the next 60 days, and the company expects to open the building in the spring of 2014, Bond said.

The three-story structure will include an enclosed parking structure and extend to Taylor Street and Canal Street.
