CHICAGO — A woman died Tuesday in her South Chicago home, partly because of the cold weather, authorities said.
Florence Hawkins, 83, was found unresponsive in her home in the 8200 block of South Chappel Avenue, where she was pronounced dead at 8 a.m, according to the Cook County medical examiner.
She died from cold exposure and heart disease, according to the medical examiner.
Temperatures hit at a low of 17 degrees Tuesday morning, 10 degrees lower than normal for Nov. 27.
