NORWOOD PARK — A Union Ridge manufacturing worker was stabbed to death in his Northwest Side home with a pair of scissors early Wednesday morning, according to police.

Raymond Ogara, 41, was found dead in his home within the 5400 block of North Natoma Avenue, stabbed in the neck with a pair of scissors after he got into a fight with another man, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The bloodshed happened at about 1:20 a.m. and a suspect was taken into custody following the incident, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

Ogara worked with at his father's tool and die manufacturing company in Mount Prospect, neighbor Brian Kirby, 53, said.

According to Kirby, who has known the victim for five years, Ogara was an eccentric guy who dealt in vintage comic books and used to own comic shop. He was also a talented guitar player.

"He was a great guy," Brian Kirby said. "I would characterize him as a genius... there was nothing you couldn't go to him and ask him a question that he didn't know about."

Ogara was a guitar prodigy at a young age, according to longtime friend Jennifer Morris, 42, of Carpentersville, who said she attended Hoffman Estates High School with Ogara but lost touch with him in recent years.

"At 15 years old, he was just phenomenal," Morris said.
