CHICAGO — With the election only days away, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Mayor Rahm Emanuel have been kicking fundraising into high gear, including hosting an event at Chicago's Harry Caray's on Thursday for Democratic challengers, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Pelosi and Emanuel hosted the restaurant event for six congressional candidates at a buy-in between $250 and $2,500 a person, the Tribune reported. It's the second time in less than a month Pelosi has hosted an event at Harry Caray's for Democratic contestants hoping to take a majority in the House, according to the Tribune.
Emanuel announced in September he would leave his honorary position with President Obama's campaign so he could raise cash for pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA Action, the Washington Post reported. Though his fundraising efforts were temporarily disrupted by the CPS teacher's strike, Emanuel soon returned to generating dough and hitting up campaign offices around the country in support of the Dems and Obama.
