WEST RIDGE — For the second time in three months, police brought in extra officers to help in a prostitution sting and make other arrests in a Far North Side community, authorities said.

Ald. Debra Silverstein (50th) said 150 officers from the Cook County Sheriff's Office "checked in on parolees, served criminal warrants, removed graffiti and made arrests for solicitation of prostitution."

The total number of arrests was not immediately available.

Silverstein said the operation began at 3 a.m. Wednesday and continued into early afternoon.

"The sheriff’s office is committed to being out here and to help us in the 50th Ward," she said.

At the end of October during a similar sting, police arrested 10 people on prostitution charges, while others were busted on firearm and drug possession charges.
