Man in FedEx Uniform Shoots Dog in Staten Island Home Invasion, Police Say

STATEN ISLAND — Police are looking for a man who forced his way into a Staten Island home dressed as a FedEx employee and then shot a pit bull inside.

The incident happened on March 31 about 4:45 p.m. when the man knocked on the door to 20 Lambert St., then forced his way inside and pulled out a gun, police said.

A 32-year-old man who was inside the home confronted the invader and the two began to struggle, according to police.

A pitbull inside the home raced up to the assailant, who shot the animal once in the head, police said.

The dog survived and the occupant of the home was not injured.

The suspect is described as 40 to 45 years old, about 5-feet-10 and 225 pounds with a scruffy beard. He was wearing a FedEx uniform and baseball cap during the incident.
