MIDTOWN — A construction worker on a Diamond District site was seriously injured after falling two floors, officials and witnesses said.

The unidentified man — identified by colleagues as Carlos — dropped from the 26th floor inside the International Gem Tower which is being constructed at 44 W. 47th St., FDNY officials said.

"He was bleeding from the head, but he was moving," said Ricardo Flores, 47, who works at a jewelry store across the street.

Witnesses said a crane was used to lower him to safety.

"It was speedy," said Anthony Palmer, 47, who also works in the area. "The scene was calm."

He suffered injuries to his shoulders and legs and was in serious condition at Bellevue Hospital, an FDNY spokesman said.

Fire officials were investigating the cause of the fall.

"It seems like a safe place," Flores said. "Everyone looks out for each other."

Construction at the site resumed about 11 a.m.
