MANHATTAN — An unidentified person was rescued from a Hell's Kitchen elevator shaft early Monday morning.

Firefighters received a call that a person was trapped in an elevator shaft at 153 West 48th Street near Seventh Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Monday.

The address appears to correspond with a Central Parking Garage on W. 48th Street near the Sam Ash music store. A staffer at Central Parking Garage declined to comment.

First responders retrieved the person by 2:36 a.m. and transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital, fire officials said.

The condition of the victim was unknown.
