Plans for residential development units on Halsey near Stuyvesant Ave. were rejected by a local board.

The Cathedral of St. John The Divine joins more than 100 buildings in the newly designated district.

The city is considering landmarking Morningside Heights and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

The proposed district would include parts of the neighborhood between West 108th and 119th streets.

A piece of the facade from a 106-year-old building fell onto the sidewalk, the Fire Department said. 

Locals fear the Port Authority could raze buildings in the neighborhood to make way for a new terminal.

The six neighborhood walking tours are part of the "Jane's Walk" festival honoring urbanist Jane Jacobs.

Nearly 300 buildings, including 'the Notre Dame of Park Slope' are now landmarked.

The designation by the National Park Service expands the area's historic district to 917 properties.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission approved the 22,000-square-foot building this week.

LPC voted to designate the area, which spans from Monroe to Macon streets and Bedford to Tompkins.

Brooklyn Heights was the city's first neighborhood to receive the designation in 1965.

LPC will vote on the designation on Dec. 8, according to agency representatives and Bed-Stuy residents.

If approved, the designation would include more than 600 homes and buildings in the neighborhood.

The Mount Morris Park Historic District will be expanded to include more houses in Harlem.
