A group of tenants from 344 E. 28th Street, near First Avenue, is asking police and elected officials for help fighting an abundance of crime in and around the building.
The national event was originally conceived as a way to heighten awareness about safety and crime. But organizers said the annual event has become more focused on bringing the community together.
