Five food vendors who left Wall Street after the city lined the street with barricades for Occupy Wall Street returned quickly after the city took down some of the blockades.
The city removed the metal police barricades from Wall Street Wednesday as Deputy Mayor Howard Wolfson dined at a struggling Wall Street Cafe that said it had to lay off workers because of the lockdown.
Milk Street Cafe laid off nearly a quarter of its staff after seeing business drop by 30 percent due to the disruptions caused by the Occupy Wall Street protests, its owner said.
